Someone's blog

I came across the blog of two guys Olle Rydberg and Tomas Tjernberg from Lulea University of Technology, on there blog is an entire projects were he and his freind made a 3d dinosaur and filmed a local forist to composit it into. The blog contains ther proposal for the project there planning time plan etc. I do feel i bit shamed by there work because it is amazingly well done.

This is a hyper realistic build with accurate skeletal designs and muscle structures to give accurate and realistic movement.

There is a high level of detail in this brief not how it was all made but how many parts there were and how they were put together.

Though the work is more about the modeling of the character then the compositing they did a thorough job f compositing with passes i have never even tried:

Direct light
Indirect light
Shadow
Ambient Occlusion
Zdepth
Color
Specular
Reflection
SSS (broken down in three passes for better control)
Bent normal (for controling lighting in post)
Fog

There breakdowns were amazingly useful and have learned allot from there work, i also found the website for there college (http://gscept.com/) were you can look though all the work of the other students feating special effects, game character creation, concept art and physical sculpture.
