Spiker: Day Two

NO there wasn't any "Day One" post. I have actually only spent about 3 hours on it so far and that includes all the working out but with other work and the 5+ total hours of drying time for the glue and the sealant to dry its been two days since the start.

After the rough working out i started with the blades because they would have to be built up in layers and would take a long time to glue which i could do between other things. I sketched out the shape and then made paper templates to cut the card too.

After cutting all the layers of card i set them to glue in pairs and started work on the main body of the gun.

By having on layer of card on the bottom and several smaller layers on top i was able to use sealant no make the illusion of a sharpened blade.

After the glue had dried i reinforced the body and then cut shapes into the front to match the "real" thing. By now you might have noticed some of my materials are from a recycled Carlsberg box.

To make the barrels of the gun i used Coke bottle topes glued together to make a thick cylindrical barrel.

Then i cut the shapes for the mounting brackets that hold the blades on the gun.

Now that the brackets were glued and dry i stared attaching them to the base which is now drying.

To be continued.....
